I recently encountered a persistent error while using the Bpod system together with the HiFi module. The issue caused Bpod to stop running unexpectedly. Below is the error message I received:

I’d like to ask what the possible causes of this error might be.

The issue still occurred even after I replaced both the Bpod and the HiFi module with new ones. However, after I used LoadBpodFirmware to update the firmware on the HiFi module, the error has not reappeared for now.

Hello Oly,

What MATLAB and PsychToolbox versions are you using, and which state machine model?

If at all possible, try to use MATLAB r2019b or newer. Mathworks reworked the USB serial interface, resolving an issue with dropped data we were seeing with the PsychToolbox IOPort class. Bpod will automatically use the correct interface if it is available.

I'd also check to make sure that any unused behavior ports are disabled in from the settings menu (it's a checkbox)

If none of these are the issue, please send your protocol file and a small example data file from a session with the issue to support@sanworks.io

I am currently using MATLAB 2024 and Bpod State Machine r2.5, with all four behavior ports in use. After I replaced both the Bpod and the HiFi module with new units and used LoadBpodFirmware to update the firmware on the HiFi module, the error has not reappeared so far.

If the issue happens again in the future, I will reach out for further assistance.
