I have been using Bpod v1.0 (firmware 1.58) successfully with Analog Output Module v1 (firmware v2). I am sticking to the old Bpod firmware for some compatibility reason.

Now, I am trying to use an Analog Output Module v2, as module v1 is no longer available.
When I connect a Bpod to an Analog Output Module v2 installed with Firmware v6, it gave a warning that the firmware version of the module is newer than that of the Bpod, and it did not work.

Is there any way to use the Analog Output Module v2 with the old Bpod firmware 1.58? I tried to downgrade the Analog Output Module firmware to v2, but installation did not work.

I forgot to mention, but I'm trying to use WavePlayer.
When I edit the CurrentFirmwareList.m to say
"Firmware.WavePlayer = 6;"
the warning went away.
However, when I ran the protocol, it gave an error message:
"Error using ArCOMObject_Bpod/read
Error: The serial port returned 0 bytes.
Error in BpodWavePlayer (line 86)
obj.TriggerProfileLogic = obj.Port.read(1, 'uint8');"
So, I am still unable to use the Analog Output Module v2.

To recap from our Email, Bpod software v1.58 (released in 2018) supports WavePlayer firmware v1. Unfortunately Analog Output Module v2 requires firmware v6, as it uses a new Teensy board (Teensy 4.1).

Hi Josh,

I updated the Bpod software to v1.81 and the State Machine Firmware to v23.
Bpod runs normally and communicates with the sound card correctly.

However, now, Bpod fails to work with the Analog Output Module. I tried connecting to our new AOM v2 (installed with firmware v6) and AOM v1 (installed with firmware v2), but neither of them worked. The error message says:
"Error using ArCOMObject_Bpod/read
Error: The USB serial port did not return the requested number of bytes."
I have updated the CurrentFirmwareList.m file, but it did not help.

Do you have insights on this issue?

This issue was not due to the State Machine Firmware. I rolled it back to v22, but the issue remains. So, it must be an issue with software v1.81.

Bpod softwave v1.81 seems to have different issues in communicating with AOM v1 (firmware v2) and AOM v2 (firmware v6).
When connected with AOM v1, Bpod recognizes the module (BpodSystem.Modules.connected = [1 0 0]), but ArCOMObject failed to work.
When connected with AOM v2, Bpod does not recognize the module to begin with. BpodSystem.Modules.connected remains as [0 0 0].
