Data acquisition short paused from RunStateMachine

Hi,

In our protocol, every time we trigger Bpod with the RunStateMachine() function, it tends to pause the data acquisition for a short period. I am wondering if there is any alternative way of this function. Now we are using the series of AddState(), EditState(), SendStateMachine(), and RunStateMachine() to trigger Bpod.

Hello Stan,

There is a purpose-built tool for this exact issue: BpodTrialManager. BpodTrialManager runs each trial without blocking the MATLAB interpreter, and delegates data collection to a timer callback. This allows you to prepare the next trial's state machine, update online plots, etc. while the trial is still running. In the /Light/ subfolder of the example protocols folder, the Light2AFC Example Protocol has a _TrialManager version, so you can compare the same task built for both ways of running trials.
