  Ports and boxes for rats?

Hello, 

Is anybody using bpod in behavioral setups for rats? Particularly in the case of the ports, I'm wondering weather it would be a matter of just scaling up the size and weather the materials would still be suitable for rats. Would XT-Copolyester be resistant enough to stand potential chewing, etc? Any experience/advise?

Hi Josh,

I was unable to find documentation on either of the wikis on using Bpod with OpenEphys beyond instructions for assembly of the sync board.
Did I miss any content that could speed up my setting up/debugging process?
Specifically, what do data in the all_channels.events file (format Open Ephys) mean in Bpod terms?

Hi Josh,

I want to implement an auditory "house light", i.e. play a white noise during my ITI period. Because the animal must stop licking for 1.5s the duration of the ITI is indeterminate. Essentially I want a pulse train to play whenever a particular digital out is set to high.

Other people in our lab lab already use pulse pal to approximate a white noise stimulus:

Can I use the SetContinuousPlay function combined with the pulse gated trigger mode to do this?

Hello! I am really excited to start using the PulsePal 2.0. I purchased all of the components from the Bill of Assembly, and just now realized the Assembly Instructions are not posted yet! May I please have some directions! I am using the PulsePal for my dissertation research, and need to get moving with a reliable stimulator. I am using a voltage generator right now for my cell work.  Confused

Hello,

I'm trying to send a byte, from the bpod to a matlab, via serial code, as to trigger a display. However, when I connect the bpod to the computer (with an ethernet cable), the bpod light turns off and the protocol won't run but in the emulator mode. Is there any way for me to achieve this connection using udp in the receiving computer?

It looks like there's a typo in /CAD/PCB/MouseBoxPortBreakout/MouseBox_PortBreakout_r1 GERBER.zip

The board preview shows the three resistors labeled [100, 15K, 100], whereas the picture in the assembly instructions matches the BOM's resistors: [10, 15K, 499].

Is this right?

Hello,

I'm in the process of replacing and adapting a number of protocols in wich bcontrol was being used to the bpod setup.
Could I get some information about the ports (the A31442-N Ethernet Jack ones) and the way its 8 pins are specified? Is it the same, with the Digital Input, Digital Output, GND, +5V, +12V, -12V, Analog Input and Analog Output?

Hi,

I'm in the process of putting together the components for the bpod system according to the instructions on the wiki. For the Arduino shield, the BOM doesn't include the stackable headers pictured in the assembly instructions - are these not required? Also, can the shield be used for an Arduino Uno (if an Arduino Leonardo is not available?). I'd really appreciate any advice you could offer!

Hi all,

I'm in the process of ordering computers, and had a question about USB power to Bpod.  My lab has had a problem in the past with USB providing insufficient power to Bpod.

It looks from Device Manager that a working Bpod draws 500mA from a USB2.0 port. From what I understand, that is in spec for any USB2.0 port, and that the ability to draw five unit loads (vs. one 100mA load) is determined by the device itself, not the computer's USB port. 

Am I understanding this correctly?  Is there anything I need to look out for in the new computers?
